Be Mindful Of Where You Discuss Sensitive or Private Information
You never know who may be listening or watching what you do. With that in mind, you should always be careful of where and when you share information that shouldn’t be public knowledge.
You should be wary of the following:
- Posting comments or pictures on social media, even when it seems positive or harmless
- Talking about topics when others are around that should not be audience to the information discussed
- Displaying data where it can be viewed by public, such as working on sensitive documents at an airport or coffee shop
Whether personal or company-related, even if not intentional, the detrimental effects of leaking sensitive information can be prolonged and far reaching. These detriments can include identity theft, reputational damage, financial loss, and beyond. Like a stone thrown, there is no recalling information that has been released into the world.
